Tassie Berry Porcelain Bird Ornament
 
This series of ceramic birds are inspired by the flora and funa that surrounds the artist in the Huon Valley. They are made from a midfire white ceramic porcelain. They are all handmade by her. Each bird is embossed with leaf and berries pattern on the front and vine leaf on the back. The front side is hand painted using ceramic stains and bisque fired to 1000 degrees centigrade. They are then painted with 3 coats of clear glaze and fired to 1168 degrees centigrade in an electric kiln.

Each of the birds shown here is a representative of the colour and pattern available. Because these are not made in a mould, but with a unique pattern technique, each one is uniquely its own, so as in nature, no two will be the exactly the same. Colours and patterns will vary for each hand crafted ornament. The back of each ornament is unglazed, but does have a beautiful embossed pattern.

Each ornament is hung with a satin ribbon with a silver bead adornment.
